July 31, 2006.  This past week has been exhausting!  Today my flooring project will be completed.  Here are some interim photos.

(Click a photo to enlarge it.)

The latest in toilet design. No more worries about lowering the seat.

Another convenience. This was more than just a flooring project.

The white things between the tiles are "1/8 inch tile spacers." They ensure that the tiles are perfectly lined up.

Blue tape marks tiles I'm not allowed to walk on. The tile was installed in phases so I always had access to my refrigerator. Unfortunately, I was cut off from my microwave oven for a day or two. The horror!

Oops! The wood is going in the wrong direction. "Could you fix that, please?" (Only kidding -- long deliberations went into this choice.)

Left: 39 pieces of 8' quarter-round. Spent last weekend painting them. Two coats. Pink Floyd helped me through it.

Right: Old carpet and baseboard.

Making space in my basement was like solving a jigsaw puzzle with 40-pound pieces. Finally got some exercise from my exercise equipment!

Painted 19 pieces of 16' baseboard. Two coats. Finding and clearing a spot for it was no small project. Got painful leg cramps that night from over-exertion and malnutrition.

And, of course, all those jade plants needed a home for the week.
